Another great season of Grand Strand Youth Hockey is just around the corner!
Hockey season will officially begin next week with our annual Season Kick-Off event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The event will take place at Market Common Hockey Rink, located at the corner of Crabtree Lane and Emmens Avenue at Grand Park (directions here).
It is open to all players signed up for the fall season, as well as to anyone considering joining one of our leagues or Learn to Play programs this fall.
The GSYH Season Kick-Off marks the start of our 2024-25 season with an open skate, player evaluations, a hockey gear swap and informational sessions for parents in our leagues and our Learn to Play programs.
This session is open to anyone interested in playing hockey with us, regardless of age, skill or registration status. Come out and skate, meet our coaches and try hockey. No experience needed. Skates and gear available to be loaned.
Designed for anyone who is already registered for our Learn to Skate or Learn to Play program, or parents interested in signing up a skater. Come meet our coaches and learn more about the program.
This session is for any parents / players who are new to our program. Coaches and organizers will briefly review details on schedule, equipment and rules, as well as answering any questions you may have.
This is run as an "open practice" for any new or returning GSYH players. Coaches will split players up into groups based on age and skill level and run through several basic drills, similar to a normal practice. We will spend the last 30-45 minutes scrimmaging in game-like situations to help coaches evaluate players for roster placement.
GSYH organizers and volunteers will be on hand from 5:30- 8p.m. to collect donations of gently used hockey gear from the community and will have tables full of used to gear to trade and/or loan to new and returning players who may be in need or have outgrown their gear.
